Move-Out Deep Cleaning Checklist for Renters in DE & PA

Want your full security deposit back? Follow this room-by-room move-out deep cleaning checklist before you hand over the keys.

Why Move-Out Cleaning Matters

Landlords in Delaware and Pennsylvania are entitled to deduct cleaning costs from your security deposit if the unit isn't returned in move-in condition. A thorough deep clean is the simplest way to protect that money.

Even better, many of our clients recover the cost of a professional move-out clean several times over in returned deposit funds.

Kitchen

Clean inside the oven, refrigerator, and microwave, including the coils behind and beneath the fridge. Degrease the stovetop and range hood, scrub the sink and faucet, and wipe down all cabinet interiors and exteriors.

Don't forget the baseboards behind appliances and the floor underneath. These are the spots landlords inspect first.

Bathrooms

Descale the showerhead and faucet, scrub grout lines, remove hard-water spots from glass enclosures, and sanitize the toilet inside and out. Replace any missing or damaged caulk, it's a common deduction trigger.

Walls, Floors & Finishing Touches

Patch small nail holes, wipe down light switches and door frames, clean interior windows and tracks, and vacuum then mop every floor. A final sweep of baseboards, vents, and closet interiors seals the deal.

Pressed for time? Elevare's move-out deep clean covers every item on this checklist, and we provide a completion walkthrough so you have documentation for your landlord.
